No time for a life lesson, Mom. I have a physio test!

No. Mom. Please. I don’t have time for a life lesson today! I have a physio test. Words from my son that have back at me lately, whenever i start preaching. The kid has a point. Sometimes in the midst of overcompensating for the lack of parenting I feel I received growing up, i blather. I forget he has his own life to live. I forget that teenage ears have hippo flaps that are supposed to close over to keep the wisdom out so they can make their own mistakes. I forget that finding out for ourselves, messing up, making mistakes, and failing are ripe with better life lessons. There is a time for everything, and a season for every life lesson under the heavens.
